Some Days Some Arts 2022
Our first festival took place in July, 2022. At the time, we were very inexperienced, yet enthusiastic students. We had nothing to lose and lots to learn. The festival was a relaxed, fun, spontaneous event during which we realized we could really give this project a go. We thought it was a pleasing success! The excitement of a new adventure made for an electric atmosphere, as we learnt how to take care of the needs of a big group.
Add the 40°C weather, good food, and farm wine, and you have a recipe for a good time. Our participants gave workshops of recycled paper making, carpenting, sourdough bread baking, wool spinning, creative upcycling, sewing, as well as an art lab for children.
Workshops
Sifting an archive
Both the fabrication and the usage of paper were at the center of this collaborative workshop. While learning how to make paper from old, recycled paper scraps, natural materials and decorations the group also collectively worked on producing the material for the analog archive of the project.

Sourdough Magic
Bread making is a fascinating topic, which can seem difficult to navigate. This workshop was designed to make baking bread accessible and fun, and to encourage our participants to get started on their own bread baking journey.

Wool spinning
During this workshop, spindles and wool were discussed and explored. The group hand carved spindles out of reclaimed wood and learnt how to spin yarn out of rough wool. This resulted in practical artworks, and beautiful rustic yarn.

Building together
In this workshop we built something together: with each other, and with the place. We worked with found, used (!) materials, that we brought together in an explosion of DIY-technique and tactical thinking. The less one knew, the better! Letting go of having a goal, the group engaged in this constructive free-fall.

Kids Workshop
The Self-portrait workshop dedicated to kids brought the participants on a journey to explore fun ways and mediums to represent oneself through what we feel and experience.
Parents and the festival’s long-term participants were invited to visit the final exhibition curated by the kids.

To keep on loving
“We wear/use our favorite pieces of textile until they are worn out and covered in holes. But this doesn‘t mean their live with you is over, don’t throw them out just yet!”
In this workshop we took old/broken/worn-out textile pieces we cared about and transformed them into something new but familiar, that could be loved and give love in old and new ways.

Carpenting
Federico introduced the participants to all the tools, machines and materials needed to work and create with wood. The group learned how to understand the characteristics and the behaviour of different pieces of wood as an essential part of the working process and made some beautiful pieces throughout the stay!
